What can be examined
We consider messages together with attachments, available participant information, dates and acquisition conditions. The scope depends on whether a phone, original email, chat export, screenshots or previous inspection record is provided.
Examples of technical questions
- Which messages and attachments are contained in the package provided?
- Are selected fragments consistent across the export, device and screenshots?
- Which timestamps are available, and how do they relate to time zones?
- Are there technical discrepancies between the versions provided?
- Which information allows material completeness to be assessed, and what remains unchecked?
Materials to begin
- Correspondence source and selected period.
- Original messages, a built-in export and attachments, where available.
- Description of the disputed episode and file acquisition details.
- Previous inspection records and examination questions.
Recording and examination
Recording describes accessible content and the conditions of acquisition. Examination answers the technical questions raised. An account name and sender address do not automatically establish the author's identity, and the absence of detected alteration indicators does not prove complete immutability of the material.
If notarial preservation of evidence is required, a notary prepares the record. Technical findings may supplement that inspection.
